Appointment Cancellations/Non Attendance

We require 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, which allows us enough time to offer your appointment to other clients. If you do not provide 24 hours notice, you will be charged a $70 fee. Medicare and private health fund rebates do not apply for late cancellation or non-attendance fees.

Please note, if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, we reserve the right to reschedule the appointment (rather than offer a shorter session) if we believe rescheduling will allow us to provide better care or quality of service.  If for some reason, your practitioner is running late for your appointment, you are welcome to reschedule if you prefer.

PLEASE NOTE OUR COVID 22 CANCELLATION POLICY WHICH APPLIES FROM FEB 1 2022:

If a Covid directive prevents you or your therapist from attending the practice, your face to face appointment will not be cancelled but will automatically be converted to a Telehealth appointment (phone or video).

  • If you provide more than 24 hours notice that you will not be attending an appointment as a Covid directive prevents you or your therapist from attending the practice, you will not be charged if you decline our offer of a Telehealth appointment. Please note, however, there will likely be delays in rebooking appointments and availability of face to face appointments will continue to depend on health directives and individual health.

  • If you do not provide 24 hours notice (of attendance to Face to Face or Telehealth appointment) our Cancellation policy will apply.

  • If a health directive prevents you or your therapist from attending premises within 24 hours of your appointment time, our Cancellation Policy will apply if you decline an offer for your appointment to be converted to Telehealth.

  • If you are too unwell to participate in therapy via Telehealth, and are unable to provide 24 hours notice, please provide a medical certificate.

Please discuss with your Psychologist if you have any concerns or questions about this policy

 Payment of Accounts

Fees are payable in full on the day of your session. We have EFTPOS for your convenience.

 Private Health Insurance Rebates

Many private health insurance funds provide a rebate for services provided by psychologists. We encourage you to contact your health insurance fund prior to your appointment to find out whether your policy covers services provided by your chosen psychologist.

Can I claim a rebate from Medicare?

In order to obtain a rebate from Medicare, your General Practitioner (GP) must complete a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) with you and refer you to our practice. Your GP will assess whether you are eligible for a MHCP referral and you will generally need to book a longer appointment with your GP to discuss this.

If a Mental Health Care Plan and referral letter have been completed by your doctor, you will be able to obtain a Medicare rebate of $89.65 per psychology session or $131.65 per clinical psychology session. We offer Medicare online claiming which allows Medicare to deposit your rebate directly into your nominated bank account.

A maximum of 10 Medicare eligible sessions are available each calendar year for our Psychologists (5 for our Mental Health Nurse). You must visit your referring doctor after attending 6 sessions, to ascertain whether further sessions are appropriate and if so, your doctor may refer you for a further 4 sessions. You can use your MHCP referral to see any practitioner, even if their name does not appear on the referral letter from your GP.
